Podcasts to improve your listening skills

September is the perfect month to start good habits such as listening to Spanish every day, from a short news video to your favourite song.  The more you expose yourself to the language, the more trained your ear will become and also you will broaden your vocabulary, particularly where there is a transcript available with the audio.  If there is no transcript.....how about trying your own!!  Transcribing what you hear is challenging, but it pays off dividends in the end.  

 

Here are a few free podcasts which would be well worth downloading to your ipod.  You can then listen to them in your own time.  Search iTunes to download.

Time to work on your listening skills

Here is an excellent resource to develop your listening skills.  News Time Spanish from Radio Lingua Network is a fabulous news summary of current affairs in Spain and globally.  You can subscribe to it via iTunes.  For those of you who are already using Coffee Break Spanish, you will recognise the presenter. 

Year 13 - Responsive Writing

Continue to read widely using the many sites you have been given for suggested reading.  Think creatively about how you will organise your notes for revision.  You may wish to save interesting phrases from articles into word documents and colour code them.  You could also place a copy of your key essay phrases in a place such as above your desk at home so that you are seeing them and memorising them daily.

Here are two examples of excellent revision notes on the topics of:

A level - Vicente Ferrer - La Pobreza

 

This is a beautiful video about Vicente Ferrer, a truly inspirational Catalan who devoted his life to fantastic humanitarian work in India.
